Our licensed psychiatric team provides thorough evaluations, official accommodation letters, and personalized care plans – and we accept most commercial insurances for both virtual and in-office visits.

Do I Need Adult ADHD Testing?

Diagnosing ADHD in adults requires expertise in mental health care. Many symptoms like inattention, forgetfulness or impulsivity may overlap with other concerns such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, autism or substance use. That’s why working with a qualified professional for ADHD testing is so important—our clinicians can distinguish ADHD from similar conditions and help you find the most appropriate path forward.

Adults commonly seek evaluations when they are:

A formal ADHD diagnosis is often necessary to:

How is ADHD tested?

In a typical appointment, your provider will explore how your current symptoms have affected you over time—starting in childhood—and how they show up in personal, academic and professional settings. This thorough clinical interview may be supported by feedback from a family member or partner and standardized behavior rating scales. The goal is to identify ADHD symptoms and rule out any overlapping or co-occurring conditions that might affect treatment.

How Does Online ADHD Diagnosis Work?

You can complete your full ADHD evaluation from home through our secure telehealth platform. Online appointments follow the exact same clinical standards as in-person visits. We offer both.

1. Schedule Your Session: Choose a virtual appointment time with a licensed psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner.
2. Complete Digital Intake Forms: Fill out rating scales and medical history forms online before your visit.
3. Attend Your 1-Hour Video Evaluation: Meet face-to-face with your clinician to review symptoms and past challenges, either in-office or online.
4. Receive Your Diagnosis & Plan: If you meet diagnostic criteria, your provider issues an official diagnosis letter, accommodation documentation, or a targeted treatment plan during or immediately following your appointment.

Is a 1-Hour ADHD Evaluation Enough?

There is no single lab test, blood test, or brain scan to diagnose ADHD. Diagnosis requires a clinical evaluation focused on your symptom history, past challenges, and daily functional struggles.  For many individuals, a focused one-hour appointment is sufficient for an accurate diagnosis and the documentation needed to start treatment, and receive accommodations for school. These sessions are designed to assess symptoms quickly and thoroughly, ensuring that other conditions are considered. With that said, some organizations—especially licensing boards—may request a comprehensive neuropsychological report with standardized test scores, completed by a PhD or PsyD. If that’s the case, we’re happy to make a referral.

What Happens After Your ADHD Evaluation?

Once your ADHD evaluation is complete, your provider will review your diagnostic results with you and discuss recommended next steps.

• If You Need Accommodations: We issue official diagnostic documentation and accommodation letters for your school, employer, or licensing board.
• If You Choose Ongoing Care: If your evaluation confirms ADHD, you can transition directly into treatment with Fine Tune Psychiatry for personalized medication management, therapy, and ongoing follow-up care.
• If You Prefer a One-Time Evaluation: If you only require diagnostic testing for documentation and do not need prescription services or ongoing care, no further appointments are required.

How Much Does ADHD Testing Cost?
