LGBTQIA+ Psychiatric Care

Book an Appointment

At Fine Tune Psychiatry, we recognize that gender identity and sexual orientation exist across a broad and diverse spectrum. Many of the individuals we care for identify as trans, non-binary, queer, lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, questioning, fluid, and more. All identities are welcomed, affirmed, and respected in our practice.

While receiving psychiatric care through Fine Tune, many patients are also under the care of other providers for gender-affirming treatments. We regularly collaborate with other providers involved in our patients’ care and are experienced in supporting patients undergoing hormone therapy, top and bottom surgeries, and facial gender-affirming procedures.

Our goal is to create a safe and accepting space, no matter where you are on your identity journey, and to thoughtfully consider that journey when discussing medications or therapeutic approaches.

Understanding Unique Mental Health Challenges

Life presents challenges for everyone, but members of the LGBTQIA+ community often face specific mental health burdens rooted in lived experience. According to national data from 2022, adults who identify as LGBTQ report significantly higher rates of depression and anxiety compared to their non-LGBTQ counterparts. In 2023, The Trevor Project found that 41% of LGBTQ+ youth had seriously considered attempting suicide in the prior year.

Experiences of being misunderstood, mistreated, rejected, or discriminated against—whether within families, schools, workplaces, or public spaces—are common contributors to increased levels of anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation in LGBTQ individuals. These complex emotional experiences, combined with factors like race, family dynamics, location, and culture, deeply influence mental well-being.

Our clinicians are equipped to provide LGBTQ mental health services that acknowledge and address these overlapping influences.

Respect for Your Identity and Voice

We know that being recognized for who you are—starting with your name and pronouns—makes a difference. That’s why our team commits to using each patient’s chosen name and pronouns across all interactions, documentation, and coordination with other providers. We view this as a fundamental part of respectful and ethical care.

Our Services

Fine Tune Psychiatry offers psychiatric care—including both medication management and therapy—to individuals across all sexual orientations and gender identities.

We treat a wide range of conditions, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, trauma-related disorders like PTSD, ADHD, OCD, insomnia, substance use disorders, adjustment issues, perinatal mood disorders, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. Several of our providers also support individuals navigating gender dysphoria by writing letters of support for gender-affirming procedures.

We believe that gender-affirming care is essential, and we are proud to offer LGBTQ mental health services that are compassionate, affirming, and rooted in clinical expertise.
